[Résumé : Ce commentaire introductif au numéro thématique analyse l’impact de l’intelligence artificielle générative (IAG) sur la conception architecturale, période marquée par une phase exploratoire intense dédiée au renouvellement des imaginaires. Contrairement aux approches paramétriques ou animées, l’IAG introduit des mutations caractérisées par la fixité des images et l’opacité de sa morphogenèse, provoquant un « court-circuit » dans le flux que nous avait habitué les procédés numériques. Ces nouvelles manières de faire, à partir d’un prompt, impose une explicitation inédite des intentions et des attentes en amont, alors que le cheminement algorithmique de production devient, lui, totalement opaque. Comme nous avons pu l’observer dans ce numéro, l’intégration de l’IAG demeure localisée et fragmentaire. Nous pouvons en quelque sorte comprendre ces explorations comme un miroir des aspirations contemporaines tout en invitant à un nouvel agencement, pour la pratique du projet, entre raison et intuition et technique.]
[Abstract : This introductory commentary to the thematic issue analyses the impact of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) on architectural design, a period marked by an intense exploratory phase dedicated to renewing the imagination. Unlike parametric or animated approaches, GAI introduces changes characterized by the fixity of images and the opacity of its morphogenesis, causing a ‘short circuit’ in the flow to which digital processes had accustomed us. These new ways of working, based on a prompt, require an unprecedented clarification of intentions and expectations upstream, while the algorithmic production process itself becomes completely opaque. As we have seen in this issue, the integration of GAI remains localized and fragmentary. In a way, we can understand these explorations as a mirror of contemporary aspirations, while inviting a new arrangement between reason, intuition and technique in project practice.]
