Web-based VR for behavior analysis of architectural designs: developing and testing a prototype – Keerthana Govindarazan Virtual reality is being involved in various aspects of architectural design owing to its inherent ability to present 3d spaces in an unparalleled way. Exploring another facet of this emerging technology, this paper investigates some of the attributes of web-based VR and makes an argument for why it is particularly well suited to be utilized as a behavioral research tool in the architectural design process. A Web VR prototype developed using Rhino 3d, Grasshopper and VR Edge is outlined. The prototype is then successfully demonstrated in an experiment with 10 participants where spatiotemporal data was collected and the visualized data is illustrated. Finally, future directions including areas of further research and improvement are discussed.
